Congress Leader Pawan Khera has welcomed the Supreme Court’s decision granting him anticipatory bail, describing it as a reaffirmation of personal liberty and the rule of law. In a post on X, he thanked the Supreme Court and his legal team, saying the relief came after what he termed sustained pressure and intimidation, and added that it served as a reminder against the misuse of state power for political purposes in a constitutional democracy. The Supreme Court observed that the case appeared to arise from political rivalry and emphasised the protection of personal liberty under Article 21. It held that custodial interrogation was not required at this stage and directed Khera to cooperate with the investigation, appear before authorities as needed, and not influence evidence or leave the country without permission.
