'Colonial West Not Welcome': Niger Ruler Slams France, Western Countries In Fiery Speech

Niger’s interim president Abdourahamane Tiani has launched a sharp attack on France and other Western powers, accusing them of deliberately destabilising the Sahel to justify foreign intervention. Speaking at an Alliance of Sahel States summit in Bamako, Tiani said Niger, Mali and Burkina Faso had ended the presence of what he called “forces of occupation” to reclaim sovereignty over their security. He alleged foreign-backed efforts to sabotage infrastructure, fuel unrest and wage information warfare against the region’s military governments. France has rejected the claims, insisting its past role aimed to counter militant threats.
