US President Donald Trump escalated tensions on Wednesday, suggesting that Illinois Governor JB Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson should face jail time for opposing his deployment of National Guard troops to Chicago. Both officials, however, stated they would not be intimidated. Governor Pritzker, who also joined a union protest in Chicago, called Trump’s remarks “unprecedented” and questioned what kind of country targets political opponents.
