A West Virginia elementary school principal was met with a wake-up call of a growling and roaring kind on Monday morning. Zela Elementary School Principal James Marsh went to open the school dumpster Monday around 7:15 a.m. when a black bear jumped out at him. Marsh said the school had installed a lock to keep the bear out but over the weekend the bear was able to get back inside when Marsh came across it. Marsh’s encounter was caught on the Nicholas County Schools’ security camera at the elementary school and has since been shared widely across social media. Marsh said the bear growled and roared at him as it opened the dumpster to escape.
