Brazil’s largest-ever police operation has turned Rio de Janeiro into a warzone. In a massive joint raid against the notorious Red Command (Comando Vermelho) gang, over 2,500 officers from civil and military police stormed Rio’s northern suburbs, leaving more than 60 suspects dead and over 80 arrested. According to officials, gang members retaliated with gunfire and drone-dropped bombs, killing eight police officers and injuring several civilians caught in the crossfire. Authorities also seized 200 kilograms of drugs and dozens of rifles in what is now being called the deadliest and largest police raid in Brazil’s history. Watch this video to know more.
