India’s “geography” and “seasons variation” could be the reason for the country’s “lowest across the globe” mortality rate for Covid-19. India registered 38,135 deaths in the past 4.5 compared to1.5 lakh in the US. India’s case fatality rate is 2.2%, with credit to the “test, track, treat” strategy for the low number of deaths, as per the government. Doctors of Mumbai’s Tata Memorial Hospital also said that deaths rather than cases should be used to study the virus’s effects. On the other hand, there are also doctors who don’t agree with this theory.
