Domestic violence is an everyday reality for the Indian women. The video narrated the stories of Indian women, how they go through the ordeal of domestic violence on a regular basis. During the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdown it was even worse. The women were tortured, beaten up and they had no means to run away. A 30-year-old school teacher on anonymity narrated how she went through the ordeal of domestic violence for a long time. She was tortured, verbally abused by her husband and she was forced to quit her hobby of music. Her marital home was in Delhi, but now she has returned to her parents in Kolkata after separation from her abusive husband. Also the video narrated the story of a domestic violence victim, a finance professional, who was almost on the verge of losing her eyesight because of her husband’s brutal punching. The social media is flooded with horrific stories and video clips of men beating up their wives. Domestic violence is a major problem all over India. The National Crime Records Bureau data shows crime against women in India is increasing with every passing year. Women need to be sensitized, they ought to be clearly aware of their rights and the remedies that are available around them which means education is a must. If the women are educated, well read, they can look after themselves and their rights.
