Kamal Haasan pays tribute to Pandit Birju Maharaj says, 'A man who devoted his life to music'

Famous Indian Kathak dancer Pandit Birju Maharaj passed away of a heart attack, and he was 83 years old. Pandit Birju Maharaj had choreographed the dance moves for the Kathak song 'Unnai Kanatha' in Kamal Haasan's 'Vishwaroopam', and had bagged the National Award for Best Choreographer. Like many others, Kamal Haasan too expressed his grief and paid a tribute to Pandit Birju Maharaj through his Twitter page. Haasan called him a man who devoted his life to music. Kamal Haasan wrote, "The unparalleled dancer has passed away. I have learned from him from afar for many years and a lot while working for 'Vishwaroopam'. He has dedicated his life to music and dance." He has also praised him using a line from their song 'Unnai Kanatha' in 'Vishwaroopam'." Pandit Birju Maharaj reportedly fainted while playing with his grandchildren at his home in Delhi. He was then admitted to the hospital, and doctors declared him dead. Birju Maharaj was the recipient of the country's 2nd highest award, the Padma Vibhushan, for his talent. Several celebrities and fans are mourning the demise of the expert dancer through their social media pages.
