Jyotika donates ₹25 lakh to Tanjore government hospital

Actress Jyotika has donated ₹25 lakh to Tanjore government hospital through Agaram Foundation. It is said that apart from contributing for medical equipment and beds, she has also contributed to the beautification of the pediatric block with colour painting and renovation of the children’s park. The actress had stirred up a hornet’s nest after her speech on the poor maintenance of the government hospital went viral. At an awards ceremony, she spoke about the pathetic condition of the hospital after visiting there for the shooting of a movie. She had compared the maintenance at Brihadeeshwara temple in Tanjore and the state of the hospital and had requested that people donated to the hospital, too, in equal measure. While many welcomed Jyotika’s speech and actor Suriya, too, strongly supported her, some felt that her speech was offensive and insulted Hinduism.
