Director Thamira who had worked as an assistant to veteran directors K Balachander and Bharathiraja, and he also directed the films 'Aan Devathai' and 'Rettai Suzhi' passed away today morning. The director was reportedly diagnosed with COVID-19 a few days ago, and he was admitted to a private hospital in Chennai. But unfortunately, he didn't respond well to the treatment and breathed his last this morning. Director Thamira's demise due to COVID-19 has shocked the Kollywood fans, and they have been sharing their condolences on social media. Thamira has become the second star from Kollywood, who passed away due to COVID-19, after 'Kayal' actor Florent C Pereria. Director Shankar is deeply saddened by the demise of Thamira and has mourned the demise of the director. Shankar wrote, 'I am deeply saddened to know about Director Thamira's sudden demise. I convey my deepest condolences to his family and friends. May his soul Rest in Peace.' Shankar is the one who introduced Thamira as a director and produced his debut directorial 'Rettaisuzhi', which was released in 2010. The film featured Thamira's mentors and veteran filmmakers K Balachander and Bharathiraja. Even though the film received positive reviews, it failed to do good numbers at the box office. Earlier, Bharathiraja recalled his experience working for 'Rettaisuzhi' and shared his heartfelt condolences.
