Malayalam actor Vijay Babu approaches Kerala High Court seeking anticipatory bail in a sexual assault case

Malayalam actor-producer Vijay Babu recently landed into trouble after Kerala Police reportedly registered a case against him for an alleged sexual assault in Ernakulam South police station. Now, according to reports, the actor has approached the Kerala High Court seeking anticipatory bail in the case. The actor has reportedly told the court that the woman has leveled allegations against him to blackmail him. In his anticipatory bail plea, Vijay Babu has also claimed that the woman, alleging sexual assault, approached him seeking opportunities in the movies. He also alleged that even after their collaboration ended post additions, she continued to stay in touch and eventually grew closer to him despite knowing that he is married and has a family. He also added that he is ready to produce the messages and pictures that the two exchanged. A look-out notice got issued against Vijay Babu after a woman filed a complaint against him for sexually assaulting her on the pretext of offering her roles in movies. According to the police, the complaint was received on April 22. Reportedly, the complainant has alleged that the offence was repeated by Vijay Babu more than once. Following the allegation, Vijay Babu went public on his social media handle and refuted the charges and also claimed that he is the real 'victim' in the case. During the social media live session, Vijay Babu has also named the woman, who has filed the complaint, claiming that since his name is in public and he has done nothing as alleged, it would be unfair to let the woman stay protected. Disclosing the identity of victims of certain offenses (including sexual) is punishable as per law. Meanwhile, Kochi City Police has already begun their investigation in the case and reportedly collected evidence and recorded statements of eight people till now.
