A former journalist, Nedumudi Venu began his career in showbiz through theatres and later ventured into movies. He debuted in Malayalam cinema with the 1978 film ‘Thambu’ directed by legendary filmmaker late G Aravindan. Following that he appeared in movies like ‘Aaravam’, ‘Oridathoru Phayalvaan’ and ‘Kallan Pavithran’, among others. His performance in P Padmarajan’s ‘Kallan Pavithran’ earned him a place in the hearts of the cinephiles. He played the titular character - Pavithran, who is a petty thief. Nedumudi Venu went on to become one of the finest actors in Malayalam cinema. In his career spanning over four decades, Nedumudi Venu has acted in over 500 films in Malayalam and Tamil. He has worked with most of the talented filmmakers in M-Town including G Aravindan, Bharathan, P Padmarajan, Fazil, Priyadarshan, Blessy, and Lal Jose among others. He has also acted alongside the A-listers in cinema including Kamal Haasan, Mohanlal, Mammootty among others. He has also won two national awards and several Kerala state film awards. M-Town celebs are devastated by the sudden demise of the thespian and have taken to their respective social media handles to express grief.
