Composer Rahul Raj: 2020 taught us that we could work remotely

Rahul Raj says one of the big, ‘out of the box’ possibilities that 2020 showed us was the ability to work remotely. Speaking about his experience of working in this manner during the lockdown, he says, “While working on Aarattu, for which I am composing the BGM and songs, all instruments, except guitar, were played in Chennai, while I was in Kochi. When I engaged a 35-piece string section in Chennai; I sent my tracks and score, and arranged a conductor there. Then, we interacted remotely and I heard them recording live from Kochi. This is a huge leap. So, even if Covid goes away, we could continue to work this way.”
