Puneeth Rajkumar's family doctor faces late actor's fans' aggression

After the unfortunate demise of Kannada superstar Puneeth Rajkumar, life’s getting tough for the medical professionals who treated the late actor. The actor’s closely associated family doctor Ramana Rao is falling in trouble as he is being targeted and pointed as the reason for the death of Puneeth. It was Rammna Rao to whom Puneeth consulted after having chest pain. The Private Hospitals and Nursing Homes Association (PHANA) in Karnataka recently sought protection for Ramana Rao, following protests and complaints against him by Puneeth’s fans. PHANA president Prasanna HM urged Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai saying “PHANA is deeply concerned with the way healthcare is being portrayed in the media and public following the death of Puneeth Rajkumar. While we share the grief and shock of losing a young and popular actor, the turn of events post this are sad and calls for your immediate attention." He further added, “We strongly oppose the attempts by the public to point fingers at the treating physicians, especially Ramana Rao who did his best. After all, we know that the medical profession has its limitations and saving lives is not always possible. Else, no one would be dying." Reportedly Prasanna urged Basavaraj Bommai to come ahead and issue a public statement to boost the morale of the medical fraternity. Pleading Karnataka CM, he said, “Kindly provide police protection to safeguard Ramana Rao and the medical professionals involved in the treatment of Puneeth Rajkumar." Pointing out the false narratives carried out by some social media platforms, mentioning that he died due to lack of medical care, Prasanna Rao also said, “This kind of judgemental and hyper critical media frenzy is creating distrust in the society besides risking the lives of the medical professionals who served the deceased." He also added, 'attempts by fans and well-wishers to discuss the medical condition of the deceased person is gross violation of the healthcare policy and this can’t be encouraged'. On October 29, when Puneeth along with his wife visited Ramana Rao at his clinic after having chest uneasiness, Dr Rao conducted an ECG, post which the actor was referred to the Vikram Hospital. However, unfortunately after a few hours he succumbed to a cardiac arrest and left for his heavenly abode, leaving his family and friends shocked.
