Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas to play lead role in Telugu remake of Karnan

Popular Tollywood producer Bellamkonda Suresh has obtained the rights for the remake of Tamil action thriller Karnan. The announcement was made on Friday, and his actor son Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas will reprise Dhanush’s character in the remake. The Telugu remake of Tamil hit Karnan is being helmed by Mari Selvaraj and produced by Kalaipuli S. Thanu under the banner of V Creations. In the film, Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas will be seen essaying the role of a village youth for the first time in his career. The Telugu version of the film was widely appreciated. It told the story of a fearless village youth, who must fight for the rights of the conservative people of his village. For the film, Sai Sreenivas is expected to have a drastic physical transformation. The shoot for Karnan’s Telugu remake is expected to begin by the end of the year. The makers are yet to formally launch the project. Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas is currently working on the Hindi remake of the Telugu blockbuster film Chatrapathi. VV Vinayak directs the remake, which has been bankrolled by Jayantilal Gada's Pen Studios. The shooting of the movie has been halted due to a spike in COVID-19 cases. Kiara Advani has been approached to reprise the role that was originally essayed by Shriya Saran.
