Fake COVID-19 vaccination camps across the country are becoming a threat to the fight against the virus. While a number of arrests have been made in connection with these unauthorised camps in major cities, Kolkata has now witnessed one such incident. A man was booked recently for similar reasons and all thanks to actor-MP Mimi Chakraborty’s initiative. Incidentally, Mimi herself was duped by a middle-aged man who was posing as an IAS officer and urged the actress to attend a COVID-19 vaccination camp organised at Kasba area in the Southern fringes of Kolkata. Mimi was present at the vaccination camp and she herself got vaccinated to boost the morale of the people in order to inspire them to get vaccinated. The accused person has already been arrested and identified as Debanjan Deb. He had orchestrated a vaccination drive posing as Joint Commissioner of Calcutta Corporation (IAS rank). The man was taken into custody after Mimi alerted the police.
