Of late social media has been flooded with fans urging Dev to return to his larger-than-life masala film characters. He was once known for his hardcore commercial potboilers and these films made him the star he is today. However, the Tollywood star is now more focused on content-driven films, especially family dramas and relationship stories. While fans would like to see him doing something heroic or doing action scenes, Dev insists that phase is over when only the hero had his dialogues and his action scenes and songs. Speaking to popular news daily the actor-producer said, “The audience is really discerning now. Apart from one or two films, we don’t see masala films working at the box office. Our film Tonic was a huge success at the box office. You’ll get to see me in a new avatar in 2023. The content has to be really strong; the presentation has to be unique.”
