During the COVID-19 induced lockdown, actor Sonu Sood was a blessing to many migrant workers and those who lost their livelihood. In an attempt to honour the same, he has been appointed as the state icon of Punjab by the Election Commission of India (ECI). The actor has also reacted to the same and said, 'I am overwhelmed and extremely grateful for this honour. Having been born in Punjab, this appointment means so much to me, emotionally. I am happy to have made my state proud of me and I am motivated to keep working hard.' On the other hand, Tamil actor Sel-vara-thinam, was hacked to death at MGR Nagar in Chennai. The actor did not go for his shoot on November 14 and stayed with his friend Mani, who is an assistant director. In the wee hours of November 15, he received a phone call after which he left. He told the assistant director that he was on his way to meet his friends but did not give any further details. However, Selvarathinam's roommate received information that he has been hacked to death at Anna Nedum Pathai by a gang of unidentified men.
