Rajkummar starrer ‘Newton’ is actor Raghubir Yadav’s 8th film to be sent for Oscars. 'Salaam Bombay', 'Bandit Queen', 'Rudaali', '1947: Earth', 'Lagaan' and 'Peepli [Live]', ‘Water’ were 7 of his other films which were Oscar entries. 'Salaam Bombay' and 'Lagaan' made it to the final Oscars nominations. Yadav said that awards were not his priority and doing good cinema has always been his focus. Newton, a political satire, is director Amit Masurkar’s 2nd venture after the 2014 film ‘Sulemani Keeda’.
