Mumbai Police file a case against Bhushan Kumar on allegation of rape

Film Producer Bhushan Kumar has landed into a legal trouble as the Mumbai Police have registered a case against him for allegedly raping a 30-year-old woman. Although no arrest has been made yet, a probe is currently in progress. Confirming the same, a news agency has reported that, 'Case registered u/s 376 IPC against Bhushan Kumar, managing director, T-Series, at DN Nagar Police station on allegations of rape with a 30-year-old woman on the pretext of engaging her for a project at the company. Probe underway, no arrests made till now'. As per the reports, the case was registered after a woman filed a complaint against the producer and accused him of abusing her for nearly three years, from 2017 to August 2020 on the pretext of getting work in his company. According to Mumbai police sources, the alleged victim has also claimed that Bhushan Kumar had threatened to make her photos and videos viral. Well, while police are yet to record Bhushan Kumar's statement, the producer has not made any comment over the allegations. Well, this is not the first time, the producer has faced such allegations. Back in the year 2018, amid the #MeToo movement, an anonymous Twitter user accused Bhushan Kumar of sexual harassment and claimed that she was dropped from a film because she refused to 'sleep' with him. After which Bhushan Kumar released a statement, claiming that the #MeToo allegations were being used as a tool to malign his reputation. In his statement to the news agency, Bhushan Kumar said, 'I am appalled and anguished to know that my name has been dragged in this #MeToo by some anonymous person(s). The allegations against me are bad on the face of it. I have enjoyed an impeccable reputation and have always maintained professionalism. The tweet has been used as a tool to defame me and malign my reputation.'
