Megastar Amitabh Bachchan has lost 75 percent of liver due to cirrhosis

37 years ago, on the sets of his film 'Coolie', Amitabh Bachchan suffered a near-fatal accident. While he was undergoing its treatment, he contracted Hepatitis B virus, which was perhaps present in the blood stream of one of his donors and entered his system through transfusion. The 'Sholay' actor was informed by the doctors that 75 percent of his liver has stopped functioning due to cirrhosis. Raising awareness on the matter, Big B said that he has survived with 25 percent of his liver and there are those who survive with even 12 percent, which is why he urges people to stop discriminating against those who suffer from Hepatitis B.
