It was yet another dark and gloomy day for Bollywood as actress Mandira Bedi’s husband Raj Kaushal and well-known filmmaker passed away due to a cardiac arrest. As the news broke out, celebs started pouring in their condolences on social media. And close friends of the filmmaker and Mandira rushed for the last rites. As the pictures and videos of same made way to social media, netizens offered condolence and lauded Mandira breaking the gender stereotype by carrying her husband’s bier for the last rites. Traditionally, a woman is not expected to touch the bier or carry it to the crematorium. Among many users, one commented, 'Brave to her! As she being a female performed her husband's last rites. Let God give her and her children more strength.' Mandira, who is always known for creating her own rules, broke that stereotype as she carried her husband’s bier and bid him goodbye in her own way. Mandira and Raj got married in 1999 after which they welcomed their first child in 2011. The couple adopted a girl later and named her Tara Bedi Kaushal. A day before his demise, Raj spent some time with his friends including Mouni Roy and others at their residence. Both Mandira and Mouni shared pictures from their reunion on social media. Raj Kaushal had directed several commercials and also been a film director when he directed films like Pyaar Mein Kabhi Kabhi and Shaadi Ka Laddoo. Shaadi Ka Laddoo even featured his wife Mandir Bedi and love blossomed between them. Celebrities like Neha Dhupia, Vicky Kaushal, Anupam Kher, Arshad Warsi, Manoj Bajpayee, Minissha Lambba, Onir were among several others to pay their respects on social media.
