Legal trouble mounts for Kangana Ranaut, author Ashish Kaul files contempt petition against the actress for 'lying to court'

Actress Kangana Ranaut, who is known for her impeccable acting skills often finds herself in legal trouble as well. Recently, an author Ashish Kaul, who had filed a copyright infringement case against her over the film 'Manikarnika Returns: The Legend of Didda', has now filed a contempt petition in Bombay High Court against the actress for lying to the court. In the petition, the lawyers representing Ashish Kaul have alleged that Kangana did not disclose all the cases filed against her in various courts as she was ordered by the court to get her passport renewed. The legal team of Ashish Kaul has said, 'We served a letter to Javed Akhtar Ji and found out through his reply that there was concealing of facts in the Passport Application and this is a serious offense. We are duty-bound to bring this to the notice of the Hon'ble High Court and if fraud committed upon the court is established then there are bound to be repercussions.' Earlier, on July 26, the Bombay High Court refused to hear the intervention application by Bollywood lyricist Javed Akhtar against actress Kangana Ranaut alleging that her counsel deliberately didn't disclose the facts to get an assurance from the Regional Passport Authority for her passport renewal. The court stated, 'If we allow your intervention then why not 100 others or 1000 others. Who is the informant? You are not the informant. The state is there. You have no right to intervene.' Well, while Javed Akhtar and Kangana Ranaut had been fighting a defamation case since last year, where the veteran lyricist has alleged that the actress had made defamatory comments against him in a television interview, in another case, she recently got her passport renewed after disclosing that no criminal case was pending against her in any court as asked by the Passport Authority’s counsel in order to speed up her passport renewal procedure.
