Kader Khan dies at 81: Lesser-known facts about the veteran actor

As we bid good-bye to veteran actor Kader Khan, one of the finest actors in Bollywood, here are some lesser known facts about the actor par excellence. Before he stepped foot into the world of cinema, Kader Khan taught civil engineering at a college in Mumbai. It was legendary actor Dilip Kumar who saw Kader Khan perform at a college play and offered him a role. That's how he made his entry into Bollywood. Kader Khan used to write plays for theatres. He was later offered to write the script of the 1972 film 'Jawani Diwani' starring Jaya Badhuri and Randhir Kapoor. This was the beginning point of his career. Apart from acting in over 300 films in Hindi and Urdu, he has written dialogues for over 250 Indian films, from the 1970s up to the turn of the 21st century.The actor par excellence made his debut in acting with the film 'Daag'starring Rajesh Khanna in the lead role. His first stint with comedy was in 'Himmatwala' and 'Aaj Ka Daur'. He later ventured into hardcore comedy films including 'Sikka', 'Kishen Kanhaiya', 'Hum' and 'Bol Radha Bol' and continued through the nineties with comedy roles.
