The C-Block of Delhi's Jahangirpuri area, where a Hanuman Jayanti procession last Saturday (April 16) had led to communal riots, has now recently faced the wrath of bulldozers as part of a demolition drive by the civic body. Several netizens are taking to their social media handles and giving their reactions to this demolition drive. Our very own B-Town celebs are also expressing their anger over the issue. Actress Richa Chadha commented on a Twitter post by a journalist, who wrote how CPM leader Brinda Karat stood up to stop bulldozers being run in Jahangirpuri. While questioning the absence of leaders of other political parties, she wrote, 'Where are the others???' Filmmaker Onir tweeted, 'Sometimes I am amazed at the glee of someone...watching someone else's home destroyed. Even when one encounters the real 'illegal settlements' you think why do these people not have a roof to live a dignified fearless life...' Writer-lyricist Puneet Sharma, known for his work on films such as 'Gulabo Sitabo' and 'Dhamaka', tweeted, 'Sabse pehla bulldozer unhone apne dharm aur imaan par chalaya, Humare gharon par to unhone sabse aakhir me bhijwaaya.' Screenwriter Dhillon, best known for films like 'Manmarziyaan' and 'Haseen Dillruba', also shared a poem called 'Ek bulldozer ki choti si kahaani.' She wrote in Roman English, which losely translates to, 'Somewhere far away a bulldozer started to move... the affluent thought 'what is it to us?' The common public thought 'what is it to us?' Artistes thought 'what is it to us?' Notably, an anti-encroachment drive was launched in Delhi’s Jahangirpuri area under which several shops and businesses were pulled down with the help of bulldozers before the Supreme Court ordered a stay on the demolition drive. The apex court is now hearing the matter. For more news and updates, stay tuned to ETimes.
