Bollywood actor Urmila Matondkar, on December 1, joined Shiv Sena in the presence of party president and chief minister Uddhav Thackrey and other Sena leaders. Rashmi Thackeray tied a saffron thread (Shiv Bandhan) on the former actress' hand and welcomed her. In the pictures which are now going viral on the internet, Urmila can be seen folding her hands in front of a picture of Shiv Sena founder, the late Bal Thackeray, and his wife, the late Mina Thackeray. Matondkar had last year resigned from the Congress party, a key ally of the Shiv Sena-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government in Maharashtra. She had cited inaction on the part of key functionaries of Mumbai Congress as the reason for her resignation.
