Ileana D'cruz reacts to fake news about her undergoing an abortion: 'It was bizarre'

In a recent interview, actress Ileana D'Cruz spoke about being the victim of fake news. She said that there were rumours that she was pregnant and had undergone an abortion. In the same interaction, she also opened up about false reports which claimed that she had attempted suicide. Ileana, when asked about fake news and her views on it, she said, 'There have been a few. There was one where apparently I was pregnant and had an abortion. It is kind of sad, honestly, that people actually wrote stuff like that. It was bizarre.' Looking back at all the fake news she has heard about herself, the actress continued, 'There was another where I had committed suicide, not attempted. Very sad. (That) I had committed suicide but I had survived and my maid had confirmed the news. I didn’t have a maid, I didn’t attempt suicide, I was alive… It didn’t make any sense. I don’t even know where they get stuff like that.' For the unversed, back in 2018, when Ileana was with her then-boyfriend, photographer Andrew Kneebone, there were a lot of speculations that she was expecting her first child. However, without letting the rumours go out of hand, Ileana clarified on social media that she was 'not pregnant'. Meanwhile, at the moment, India is facing a deadly second wave of COVID-19. The death toll only keeps rising, so do the number of infected. Everywhere you look, someone, you know is struggling to save a loved one or dealing with grief having lost near and dear ones to coronavirus. Ileana, too, lost someone dear. In an interview, she opened up about the same and said, 'The pandemic (last year) was a bit hard only because I was away from my family. Losing a member of my family who was so close to me hit me very hard. It made it especially harder because I was away from them all.' The actress went on to say, 'So now I try and spend most of my time with them and I made a point to spend a little more time over Christmas and New Years for sure.' On the work front, she was recently seen alongside Abhishek Bachchan in a newly released film.
