The first ever 'Paro' of Indian cinema, Jamuna Barua was born to Puran Gupta on October 10, 1919. Jamuna and her 5 sisters lived in a village near Agra, before going to Kolkata. Jamuna played a small role in Prathamesh Chandra Barua's directorial debut, 'Mohabbat Ki Kasauti’ (1934) in Hindi and Rooplekha (1934) in Bengali. The couple starred in several movies together, such as 'Grihadaha' (1936), and 'Chander Kalanka' (1943). Jamuna also worked with other filmmakers for movies like 'Debar' (1943), 'Nilanguriya' (1943), Malancha (1953) and Phulwari (1953). For more news and updates stay tuned to ETimes
