From Swara Bhasker to Dia Mirza, Bollywood reacts as tree cutting begins at Mumbai's Aarey Forest

Government authorities have started to cut down the Aarey Forest, which is considered to be the lungs of Mumbai, after the Bombay High Court dismissed all petitions against BMC and gave a green signal for the axing. Several netizens, including Bollywood celebs too, have taken to social media to oppose the move. While Swara Bhasker brought attention to the current plight with a video of the tree-cutting, actress Dia Mirza called it illegal. Farhan Akhtar, too, took to Twitter and wrote, 'Cutting trees at night is a pathetic attempt at trying to get away with something even those doing it know is wrong'. Producer Ashoke Pandit wrote that it's a sad day for all those who considered trees as part of their lives and that everyone is mourning the demise of 3000 trees at Aarey Forest.
