As the nation is still witnessing the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, several celebs are under its grip. Now, ace filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker has also been tested positive for the novel virus. Recently, his directorial and Oscar-nominated film 'Lagaan' clocked 20 years, and to mark the occasion the makers of the film including Aamir Khan Productions had plans to come together to celebrate this historic moment through a celebratory reunion event, bringing the whole team of the film together. But after Ahushtosh tested positive for the virus the event has also been called off now. Confirming about the same, a source in a conversation with an entertainment portal said, 'It was supposed to be a grand event and the whole team was super excited but had canceled as Ashutosh tested positive.' Well, a couple of months back actor Aamir Khan who essayed the lead role in the film 'Lagaan' was also tested positive for the virus. Now, coming back to the filmmaker, Ashutosh Gowariker is one of the most celebrated filmmakers of Indian cinema and his work includes 'Swades', 'Jodhaa Akbar' to name a few. Earlier, before testing positive, Ashutosh while celebrating the 20 years of the film 'Lagaan' expressed his happiness on the success of 'Lagaan'. He said, 'My ultimate dream was to create something which will linger in the audience's mind. That it would be appreciated 20 years down the line is something that is unimaginable. It is overwhelming for me as well as the entire team of the film that this dream became a reality.' Well, talking about the film 'Lagaan' was released in the year 2001 and starred actors like Aamir Khan, Gracy Singh, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Raghubir Yadav, and others in pivotal roles. The film became a major hit of that year commercially as well as critically, minting several crores at the box office. Later, the film was nominated for Oscars.
