Deepika Padukone extends a helping hand to 'Chhapaak' co-star and acid attack survivor, donates a hefty sum for her kidney transplant

Actress Deepika Padukone is known for her impeccable acting skills and enjoys a massive fan following. The actress recently extended a helping hand to acid attack survivor Bala by reportedly donating Rs.10,00,000 under the 'Save Bala' campaign. The acid attack survivor, who is suffering from a life-threatening kidney ailment, urgently needs a kidney transplant to survive. Her condition is deteriorating every day due to the failure of both her kidneys. She is currently surviving on dialysis. Bala has featured with the actress in her 'Chhapaak' and when the actress came to know about Bala's ordeal, she immediately decided to help her out by donating a generous amount. Last year, Deepika appeared in the film 'Chhapaak' based on the life of acid-attack survivor, activist and TV host Laxmi Agarwal. Despite getting critically acclaimed, the film did not do as well as expected at the box office and received mixed reviews from the audience. This is not the first time any celeb has come out to support the acid attack survivors. Earlier, Shah Rukh Khan has also provided support to acid attack survivors through his non-profit organization, Meer Foundation. This year, in the month of April he spoke to the survivors in the virtual meet and lauded their bravery, grit and determination. He also encouraged the women to take care of themselves. Coming back to the actress, Deepika Padukone is keeping up too busy on the work front with multiple projects in her kitty. While she will be seen sharing screen space with her hubby Ranveer Singh in the much-awaited Kabir Khan’s '83', her fans are eagerly waiting to see her on the silver screen with King Khan in the upcoming film 'Pathan'. She also has Shakun Batra’s untitled movie co-starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Siddharth Anand’s 'Fighter' opposite Hrithik Roshan in the pipeline.
