The chairperson of the Central Board of Film Certification and popular Bollywood lyricist, Prasoon Joshi, recently took to his social media handles and informed well-wishers about the death of his beloved father, Devendra Kumar Joshi. The writer-lyricist paid his respects to his father with a heartfelt note, along with a priceless throwback photograph of the father-son duo posing together. His note read as, 'A deep sense of loss and sadness on my beloved father Shri Devendra Kumar Joshi’s sudden demise. 85 years of life, led with discipline, honesty, and deep commitment. An inexplicable void. Prayers for the eternal peace for his beautiful soul'. As soon as the post went viral, condolences poured in for the Joshi family and praying for the departed soul. 'Rang De Basanti' actor Kunal Kapoor, who has worked with Prasoon Joshi wrote, 'So sorry for your loss. Lots of love, strength, and prayers to you and the family', while actors Sumeet Raghavan and Suresh Menon expressed their grief over Devendra Kumar Joshi's demise. Prasoon Joshi, who is an acclaimed name in the advertising industry, has written lyrics of popular albums like 'Rang De Basanti', 'Taare Zameen Par', 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag', among others. One of his last works includes 'Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi'. He has also been holding the Chairperson position for the CBFC since August 2017. Recently, in one of his interviews, he reacted positively to the government's decision to impose stringent guidelines on social media and over-the-top (OTT) platforms. Taking to his Twitter handle, Prasoon said that measures taken for a level playing field and empowering consumers would provide clarity for content creators of emerging platforms.
