Aamir Khan on his relationship with Reena Dutta: I didn’t shoulder my responsibilities with my first wife'

Popularly known as 'Mr. Perfectionist', superstar Aamir Khan always gets praise for his impeccable acting skills and enjoys a massive fan following. The actor who remains in news for his films, also often makes headlines for his personal life as well. The news of Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao's divorce surely left all his fans, friends, and the entire film fraternity shocked, stunned, and completely heartbroken. But, his separation from his first wife Reena Dutta back in 2002 was also no less than a shock. Aamir had tied the knot with Reena in 1986 but got divorced after 16 years of marriage. The actor has two kids--Ira Khan and Junaid Khan--with her. Now, recently in a conversation with a news channel, Aamir opened up on what went wrong in his personal life and said, 'Somewhere I didn’t shoulder my responsibilities. I would start with my parents, my siblings, my first wife - Reena ji, Kiran ji, Reena’s parents, Kiran’s parents, my children, all these people I am talking about are my close ones. When I was 18 when I joined the film industry, I got so absorbed, I wanted to learn so much, I wanted to do so much that I somewhere — today I realize — people who were close to me, I couldn’t give them time the way I wanted to.' He also stated that in all these years of his career while making a relationship with the audience, he forgot his family was waiting for him. Earlier, in a previous interview with a news portal, Aamir opened up on his first wife Reena and said that he and Reena were very young when they tied the knot. He had called it 'a special relationship', adding that she was one of the three women 'who are very important parts of my life'. 'Reena and I were married for 16 years. We grew up together as we both were very young when we got married. Our separation was tough on both of us. It was a special relationship and is still very close to my heart', said the actor.
