Chhath puja was celebrated with fervour in Kanpur. Chhatht puja is the day of fasting and reverence especially for married women who dedicate the offering of flowers, fruits and delicacies along with water to the Sun God and Chhathi Maiya. Devotees gathered in Shyam Nagar, Shanker Nagar, Lajpat Nagar for the prayers. Many devotees also offered prayers on the banks of river Ganga.
