The crowd that gathered at Fort Kochi on the New Year day, to be part of the vibrant processions of the annual Cochin Carnival, was an excited lot. The event offered them many moments to cherish, including the burning of the Pappanji in the midnight welcoming a new year of hope and harmony, after a colourful day of folk performances, music, tableaus and the procession.
