Chikal Kalo was celebrated with a lot of energy on the muddy fields outside the the Devki-Krishna temple in Ponda on Monday. This year the locals held the festivities with a lot of enthusiasm as they managed to come together after almost two years. Locals say that the mud is considered medicinal because of the natural minerals in it. There are a variety of games that the men play with names like Undir (Mouse Game), Shakti Pradarshan (tug of war), Bebeki/ Bedkani (Game of Frogs), Bokdi (shepherd protecting his sheep) and more.
