Taking a cue from the New York Police Department, the Delhi Police has launched a new project ‘Reclaim Public Space’ in Connaught Place. In an initiative to make CP tourist-friendly and ensure safety in public space, the Delhi Police has deployed special squads at all the vulnerable locations in the area to ensure quick response whenever required. As part of the campaign, the police will intensify patrolling and conduct surprise checks in the markets, subways, parks, cinema halls and restaurants in CP. They will also aim to make CP a tout-free zone. While the campaign is starting from CP, it will soon be implemented in other parts of the city as well.
