Gurugrammers protested against the National Highway Authority of India’s (NHAI) proposed plan to cut an Expressway right through the park. The NHAI announced its plans to construct a highway through the park, effectively destroying over a third of 379-acre park. The cutting of trees in the park and destruction of the habitat of animals will happen due to the construction and will not only affect the park’s beauty but also adversely affect the city’s already worsening air quality, claimed the residents.
