Swimming champ Maana Patel is back in style after a threatening injury

At the recently-concluded 72nd Senior National Aquatic Championship held at Thiruvananthapuram, Maana Patel, the swimming sensation from Ahmedabad, won as many as three gold medals. She also created a new national record in the women’s 100m backstroke event (she bettered her own mark). But it’s the circumstances under which the victory came, which makes it even sweeter. This was Maana’s first major tournament after a long injury lay-off. Maana told us, “It certainly feels great and more than the medals, me and my coach are happy with my timings.”
