Tom Morello has revealed that Ozzy Osbourne knew his July 5 Black Sabbath concert would be his final performance. Calling Ozzy’s passing both a tragedy and a miracle, Morello said it was remarkable the rock icon lived as long as he did. Serving as the musical director for the Birmingham show, the Rage Against the Machine guitarist aimed to create “the greatest day in the history of heavy metal.” Ozzy performed seated on a black throne, delivering solo hits before reuniting with Tony Iommi, Bill Ward, and Geezer Butler for four Black Sabbath classics. Morello described the night as “spiritually great,” with love pouring in from 40,000 fans. Just weeks later, Ozzy’s family confirmed he died from cardiac arrest, heart disease, and Parkinson’s complications.
