Chris Rock said that ‘it was the greatest night in the history of Television’ right after he was slapped by Will Smith on stage at this year’s Oscars, but it was undoubtedly an embarrassing moment for the Academy. While netizens are still divided on the incident, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has issued an apology to comedian and host Chris Rock. According to an international news agency, the Academy said in a statement, “Mr Rock, we apologise to you for what you experienced on our stage and thank you for your resilience in that moment." Meanwhile, Oscar’s producer Will Packer revealed to a news channel that cops were ready to arrest Will Smith at the event. He said, “They (cops) were saying, you know, this is battery. They said we will go get him, we are prepared, we are prepared to get him right now, you can press charges, we can arrest him, you have - they were laying out the options.
