Actor Jonathan Joss, renowned for voicing John Redcorn in King of the Hill and portraying Chief Ken Hotate in Parks and Recreation, was tragically shot and killed on June 1, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas. He was 59 years old. The incident occurred while Joss and his husband, Tristan Kern de Gonzales, were visiting their former residence, which had been destroyed by a fire earlier this year. According to de Gonzales, the couple had faced years of homophobic harassment from neighbours, including threats and slurs. On the day of the shooting, they were confronted by neighbor Sigfredo Alvarez Ceja, who allegedly shouted violent homophobic slurs before opening fire.
