Water released from dam causes flood in Golaghat, Assam
Golaghat, Assam: Flooding has occurred in several villages of Assam’s Golaghat district after the Doyang Hydroelectric Project dam released water. The North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited (NEEPCO) opened the sluice gates of the dam which is located in the Wokha district of Nagaland, to discharge water on Tuesday. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have been deployed for rescue and relief operations of residents stranded in the affected regions in Golaghat, Assam.
