Two children had a narrow escape on July 27 evening when the lift they were using crashed down in a housing complex in Pune. The lift crashed moments after the children came out of the elevator, just before the cables snapped. The lift had a free fall from the 10th floor to the ground floor. An FIR has been registered against the builder and the lift maintenance agency. Four unlicensed lifts are the only means of transportation for residents of the four towers. The buildings are 13 stories tall, so residents have no choice but to use the unlicensed lifts.
