Near miss over Mumbai due to shutdown of Pakistan's airspace

Two international flights got dangerously close to each other over Mumbai’s crowded airspace on March 15. Luckily, the sophisticated collision avoidance systems kicked-in just in time and pulled the aircrafts apart. Both airliners were just seconds away from colliding with each other at an altitude of 32,000 feet. Due to the shutdown of Pakistan’s airspace since February 27, Mumbai’s mega crowded skies are dangerously jam-packed. Mumbai Air Traffic Control (ATC) has launched an investigation into the matter. An air traffic controller has been grounded as of now.
