The Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in Nagpur to conduct ‘Platina Trial’ to assess the efficacy of plasma therapy for the treatment of severely ill Covid-19 patients. As part of trial blood plasma obtained from recovered patients will be given to more than 500 patients. State nodal officer and administrative coordinator for trials, Dr Mohd Faizal, said his team believed plasma therapy may save the lives of at least 5,000 critical patients in the next six months. He also said “Results of these trials can be the turning point of Covid-19 treatment in India. Based on our results, ICMR may revise national guidelines for plasma therapy and bring relief to people.
