UP: 17 arrested for stones pelting among two groups over cricket match in Etawah

An incident of stone-pelting occurred between two groups of men over a cricket match on April 9, informed the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Etawah. He said that the incident was triggered by a discussion of a cricket match that took place on April 8 and Police have arrested 17 people in the same. Talking to ANI, SSP Sanjay Verma said, “Yesterday a fight took place between two group of men in the age group of 20 to 30 years. The reason behind fight was identified as prevalence of dominance. Such incident has already taken place in the past, however, got settled then. This time it happened due to cricket match. Two men free fired gun shots following which a hand fight took place and stones were pelted too.” In Kotwali Police Station, case has been registered under 19/23 360 147 148 149 of Civil CLA Act and 3/25 Arms Act. Their arms-ammunitions and vehicles have been recovered. Strict actions are being taken against them under 307 of IPC and Civil CLA act. So far, Police have arrested 17 people and registered 25 name in-total under the same.”
