Samajwadi Party's Dimple Yadav has won Uttar Pradesh's Mainpuri Lok Sabha seat. The seat fell vacant after the demise of Samajwadi Party patriarch and veteran socialist leader Mulayam Singh Yadav. But the by-poll on this seat was more than political posturing it was to reclaim the legacy of Mulayam Singh Yadav. The election was a prestige issue for the family and the entire Yadav family joined hands to ensure that the seat remains in the family. BJP fielded Raghuraj Singh Shakya against the SP candidate Dimple Singh Yadav. The saffron party was attacking the Yadav family for indulging in dynastic politics. Though the veteran had warned Akhilesh Yadav not to indulge in or promote dynastic politics.
