The tussle between Chinese lamps and diyas continues this Diwali. Like everywhere, the markets have been flooded with Diwali items, crackers, flowers, diyas. Diyas form an integral part of Diwali. The sellers hope that the government move to an eco-friendly Diwali might get people’s attention. A Diya seller says he has seen demand for his earthen diyas dipping year after year forcing him to change his profession for his livelihood.While the buyers are having a ball both in terms of cost and variety, the affected artisans are trying to devise ways to increase the sale of traditional goods.
