US authorities have arrested eleven Indian nationals in connection with an alleged immigration fraud scheme involving staged robberies. The investigation, led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, revealed that the accused allegedly carried out fake armed robberies in shops and restaurants to qualify for the U Visa. Officials say the group carefully planned the incidents to make them appear genuine, even ensuring that CCTV cameras recorded the robberies. Participants inside the establishments reportedly delayed contacting the police so the fake robber could escape and strengthen the illusion of a real crime. The suspects have been arrested in several states and presented before a federal court in Boston. If convicted, they could face up to five years in prison along with heavy fines under US law for conspiracy to commit visa fraud.
